Ookawa City

Kobo and Enokizu area

The Kobo and Enokizu districts, located on the southern edge of the central city center of Okawa City, are the border town between the former Yanagawa Domain and the former Kurume Domain, and have historical townscape scenery and town houses from the Edo period, including the former Yoshihara Family Residence, a nationally designated Important Cultural Property, and the former Ogata Family Residence, a Fukuoka Prefecture designated Cultural Property. It is also the birthplace of the woodworking industry, the core industry of Okawa City, where the traditional lifestyle of craftsmen still remains.
