Shimadzu-Maruyama Historical Natural Park

Shimadzu-Maruyama Historical and Natural Park is a park that has been developed around a group of five ancient burial mounds, including the Shimadzu-Maruyama burial mounds, which are thought to be the oldest forward-rear circular mounds in the lower reaches of the Onga River, as well as the surrounding natural environment. Several wild yamazakura cherry trees ("Shimadzu no yamazakura," a cultural asset/natural monument designated by Onga Town), some more than 100 years old, grow wild in the park, and the largest of these, the No. 1 tree (200 to 300 years old), is illuminated at night when the cherry trees are in bloom.
