Mizumaki Town

Mt. Taga

The name comes from the Taga Shrine dedicated to Izanagi no Mikoto, which once stood on the summit of the mountain, and is located in the center of the town along with Myojingatsuji Mountain and Toyozenbo Mountain. Oyamazumi Shrine, where the deity was enshrined as a guardian deity of coal mines, was once located on the mountainside, but was torn down when the mines were closed, and now only the foundation of the shrine remains. The entire area around the shrine has a nature park and mountain trails, and visitors can enjoy the seasonal changes in the peaceful atmosphere as they walk around.
