Itoshima City
Mt. Kaya
Kayasan is located in the northwestern part of Itoshima City and is popularly known as "Itoshima Fuji" (Mt. Itoshima) because of its well-shaped, free-standing peak with a broad base. Kayasan Observatory is a 5-minute walk from the summit of Mt. Kayasan, from which you can view Akutoya no Daimon, Nokonoshima Island, Hakata Bay, and other areas. At the observatory, handmade wooden nameplates made by local residents are distributed, which are popular as souvenirs of the climb.
