The ginkgo tree, the symbol tree of Hirokawa Town, was established as the town tree after a public contest to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the town's establishment. Every year from mid to late November, the rows of ginkgo trees in the Taihara district turn beautiful colors, attracting many people who come to take a look at the spectacular golden scenery. The beautiful golden carpet of ginkgo trees and fallen leaves is a great photo opportunity.
The ginkgo field is about 5 minutes by car from the Hirokawa IC on the Kyushu Expressway. However, there are no public parking lots around the field. During the viewing period only, a parking lot for the disabled will be prepared around the field, and several temporary parking lots (approximately 1 km) will be prepared. On holidays, a shuttle bus will be operated from the Industrial Exhibition Hall.
